AI Chat Protections
Secure Your AI Conversations

Prevent sensitive data from being shared with ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and other AI tools.
Real-time monitoring and blocking keeps your confidential information safe.

The AI Security Challenge

As AI adoption explodes, employees are sharing sensitive data with AI chatbots without realizing the risks. DataFence provides the first line of defense against AI-related data breaches.

Monitor All AI Interactions

DataFence monitors text inputs and file uploads to all major AI platforms, including:

  • ChatGPT: OpenAI's conversational AI
  • Claude: Anthropic's AI assistant
  • Gemini: Google's multimodal AI
  • GitHub Copilot: AI-powered coding assistant
  • And more: Perplexity, Midjourney, and emerging AI tools

AI Blocking in Action

Intelligent Content Filtering

Our AI-powered engine detects and blocks sensitive information before it reaches AI platforms:

  • Source code: Protect proprietary algorithms and IP
  • PII/PHI: Block personal and health information
  • Credentials: Prevent API keys and passwords from exposure
  • Confidential docs: Stop contracts and strategies from leaking

Real AI Security Risks Your Organization Faces

Samsung's $1.2B Code Leak

Engineers pasted proprietary semiconductor code into ChatGPT, exposing critical IP to OpenAI's training data.

Healthcare PHI Exposure

Medical staff using AI to summarize patient notes inadvertently shared protected health information.

Financial Data Breach

Analysts uploading earnings reports to AI tools before public release, risking insider trading violations.

Legal Document Leaks

Law firms sharing confidential client contracts with AI for review, breaching attorney-client privilege.

AI Protection Features

Paste Protection

Monitor and block sensitive data being pasted into AI chat interfaces, preventing accidental exposure of confidential information.

File Upload Blocking

Prevent documents, spreadsheets, and code files containing sensitive data from being uploaded to AI platforms.

User Education

Real-time warnings educate users about AI risks when they attempt to share sensitive information.

Flexible Policies

Create granular rules by AI platform, user group, or data type. Allow safe AI use while blocking risky behavior.

Usage Analytics

Understand how your organization uses AI tools with detailed analytics and identify potential security gaps.

API Integration

Extend protection to custom AI implementations and internal tools with our comprehensive API.

New

AI Activity Reporting

Blocking is only half the job. The other half is being able to answer, at the end of the month, what your people actually sent to AI services and what was in it.

The DataFence AI Activity Reporting dashboard showing 602 AI events out of 3,459 total enforcement events, 178 blocked before leaving the browser, 23 warned, and 3 people across 7 AI services, with a verdict trend chart, a category breakdown of chat assistant and AI search usage, a table of AI services in use, and the sensitive entity types detected in AI-bound content.
One month for a single office. 602 of 3,459 enforcement events were headed for an AI service, and 178 were stopped before leaving the browser.

Every service, named

A per-service table of every AI destination reached in the period, with events, blocks, and how many people used it. Chat assistants, coding tools, image and video generators, translators, and meeting notetakers are recognised out of the box.

By person and department

People ranked by AI usage, with the service they use most and how much of it was blocked. Useful for a conversation, not just a dashboard.

What was actually in it

The sensitive entity types detected in AI-bound content, so the report describes the data at risk rather than just counting page visits.

Trend and verdicts

Blocked, warned, and allowed traffic over time, so a spike is visible as a spike. AI events are shown against total egress, so the number always has a denominator.

Discovers what we do not ship

Busy destinations we do not recognise are surfaced for review instead of ignored. One click promotes a genuine AI service into the tracked set, including an internal gateway or a vendor that launched last month.

Exportable evidence

Filter by date range and export to CSV for a board pack, an audit request, or the monthly report an MSP delivers to a client.

No new collection, and it works retroactively. AI destinations are identified from enforcement data DataFence already gathers, and classification happens when the report runs rather than when the event was recorded. Turn it on and last month is already there. AI Activity Reporting is available on the Onyx plan.
